Unmanned, uncrewed, flight operations flight tests

SkyDome

Solve problems and know the risks before flying in the “Wild”

SkyDome is one-of-a-kind

Indoor/outdoor instrumented UAS, IoT, and Cyber Physical System experimentation facility that supports year-round UAS pilot training and testing:

  • Autonomous swarms
  • Counter-UAS
  • Detect and Avoid (DAA)
  • Mobile networking
  • Navigation Systems
  • Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum for Command and Control and Communications
  • Remote identification
  • Vehicle to Vehicle Communications (V2V)

Adjacent to the FAA-Designated NY UAS Test Site Operations Center

Recognized by federal and commercial organizations as a destination for testing advanced UAS technologies.

  • The repurposed B52 hangar is an 800,000 cubic foot plus indoor facility with a state-of-the-art control center and planned expansion of a 21 thousand cubic foot connected netted flying area.
  • The GPS denied experimentation environment with advanced shielding emulates airspace found in an urban environment.
  • A perfect environment for testing UAS, swarms, and cutting-edge technologies needed to operate safely and securely.

SkyDome Features

Indoor flying space 150’x150’x50′ indoor facility connected to 50’x80’x75’ netted outdoor test area with planned expansion to 100’x150’x80′.

GPS denied, fully RF-shielded (by 40+ dB from 400MHZ to 6GHz and 50+ dB from 900 – 1800 MHz). Anechoic absorbers strategically placed to simulate urban environment for UTM/AAM testing.

Control Room with multiple networked workstations and data wall.

Can be configured with live and simulated UAS, communications and sensors networked back to the Control Room.

16 instrumentation junction boxes are distributed throughout the walls and ceiling with RF coaxial cable and fiber optic cable reach back to the SkyDome Control Room and Data Management Server.  Power is also provided at each junction box.

Mounting points (up to 110 lbs. per hard point) inside flying space.

Secure staging and storage spaces with drive-in access.
