Flight Operations

The New York UAS Test Site team is committed to maintaining an understanding of the constantly evolving FAA rules and guidelines for UAS pilots and platforms and the airspace they operate in.

Our experienced personnel have supported crewed and uncrewed aircraft and payload testing since 2014.  Services include:

  • Flight Testing – NYUASTS has a variety of UAS platforms, a Mobile Operations Center and a team of experienced pilots to support tests, from functional check flights to advanced BVLOS operations.
  • Test platform types include small (Group 1 & 2) and large (Groups 3 & 4) UAS, general aviation aircraft and helicopters.
  • Remote Sensing – Payload integration, sensor test equipment, and data analysis services are available .
  • UAS Remote Identification Testing – RID subject matter experts and RID detection equipment are available.
  • COA Consultation – NYUASTS has been awarded more than 70 FAA COAs.
  • UAS Program Development – NY UAS Test Site can help your organization establish a successful UAS program, including CONOPS development, hardware recommendations, and Ops Center design.

Research 

The New York UAS Test Site team includes Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Network, and Software Engineers ready to address UAS technology challenges and provide a glide path to platform airworthiness, waivers and technology validation.

The New York Team is actively engaged in research in areas that include:

  • UTM and AAM technologies
  • UTM Supplemental Data Service Provider services
  • Remote ID and Trusted Remote ID
  • Ground-based surveillance/ Detect And Avoid (DAA)
  • Airborne DAA
  • Communication, Navigation, Surveillance
